The December ITS meeting was held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 7:30 AM in the GSHS Auditorium. The meeting was lead by Gibson Southern Theatre Director Adam Bledsoe.

First, attendance was taken. Then each of the two plays and one musical for Young Playwrights were introduced by the writers. Jake Sellers and Kolten Turner have been working on a musical. Alexis Kiesel and Madeline Cox have separately been working on plays. Auditions for all three will be held on December 16th both before and after school. Sellers performed a song from the musical for the troupe.

It was announced that there will be a mandatory work day for all ITS members unless a note from a parent with a legitimate reason is received by Friday. Also, Camp Playwrights will take place in April and will be geared toward the Young Playwrights Project. The children in attendance will perform in the show.

ITS State will take place January 24th-26th at the University of Indianapolis. The cast of “The Marriage of Bette & Boo” will be performing, but anyone else who would like to attend must take part in an individual event. If anyone would like to be involved in individual events, he should let Mr. Bledsoe know by Friday. It is planned that everyone will travel to Indianapolis on Friday after school, and a hotel room will be provided for cast members, and possibly individual event participants.

ITS fees are $40 and are due by the end of December. The main characters of the spring musical, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” will be singing the national anthem at the Evansville Icemen game on February 28th. If anyone else in the cast would like to sing, they are welcome to attend also.  Tickets will be available at a discounted price. We will again be filming a commercial to air on television for the musical.

Finally, a Christmas party for the theatre department may or may not be held this month, depending on the amount of interest. The officers will be planning this party.
