Young Playwrights Project 2016 Authors: Samuel Gilles, Emma Williams, Rachel Rigsby, & Makenzie Hart (L to R)

Gibson Southern Theatre closes their forty-second season with the Young Playwrights Project, a program that offers an opportunity for students to write, cast, direct, and produce their own plays. This year’s playwrights include Senior, Makenzie Hart, Juniors, Emma Williams and Rachel Rigsby, and Sophomore, Samuel Gilles.

Apartment C by Makenzie Hart tries to understand how a man’s obstacles in life can change his perspective on his morals. Inequalities by Emma Williams follows a working girl’s dream of her book being published in a man-eat-man world. Egg Lady by Rachel Rigsby is a play about a model, a painter, and a personal assistant that want love, but mistake it for attention. Alternate Reality by Samuel Gilles follows a side show full of misunderstood freaks accepting and defending themselves against their detestable owners.

Young Playwrights’ Project is presented in the Gibson Southern Auditorium and runs April 16, 2016 at 7:00PM and March 17, 2016 at 2:00PM . Standard tickets are available for $5.00; VIP tickets, located in a priority seating area and including access to the VIP Room with refreshments during intermission, can be purchased for $10.00 each.  Tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.GSHSTheatre.com.  Tickets are also available for purchase at the Box Office, beginning forty-five minutes prior to the show, for an additional $1.00 per ticket.
